Frequently Asked Questions

How Much Will I Make? How Do I Calculate Earnings?

The USD earnings will vary based on the coins you mine and the current market, however our unique mining software automatically switches to mine whichever coin is most profitable.

Check out the profitability calculator on whattomine.com.  Simply type in the Hashing Power, Power Consumption, and Cost Per KW/h and the calculator will provide you with your estimated return! Electric usage is 90 watts per GPU or about 2.1 Kwh per GPU per day.

How Long is Return On Investment?

Return on investment typically takes 12 months but can be less in a rising market.

Are your Rigs Easy to Set-up?

Yes, our rigs are as “turn-key” or “plug-and-play” as possible and they also come with personal assistance with final setup details.  Most of our configurations come with everything you need including a monitor, keyboard, mouse, cables, etc. There is no need for a separate computer, though you can monitor the rigs from another computer or smart phone.   Additionally, we provide an easy-to-read setup and reference guide to help you with the mining rig and other cryptocurrency topics such as wallet setup, mining pools, and selling/trading.   We also support all of our customers well after the sale with mining topics and cryptocurrency in general. Our rigs are all expandable up to 13 GPUs on the frame and it is easy to expand yourself.  Return on investment period is shorter the more GPUs you have.  Return on investment typically takes 12 months, sometimes less if the cryptocurrency prices are higher.  The GPU rigs hold their value very well and if well maintained they are typically worth 75% of their original value even after you get your return on investment.  Most rig will work profitably for up to 5 or 6 years and can also be upgraded over time as new technology emerges.  We also run our own mining pool, MiningMadness.com which you are welcome to join. Thanks, and please let us know if we can build one for you!

Is There a Manual?

In addition to providing personal assistance with the final setup details, we have also include a printed hard copy comprehensive setup and getting started guide with lots of pictures to make it easy.  We provide support for all of our customers well after the sale for questions regarding the rig, expansion options, and cryptocurrency in general.

What Power is Required?

Power consumption is about 90 watts per GPU, or around 2 kwh per day per GPU.

What is the Noise Level?

Our rigs are not loud but there are fans on the power supplies and GPUs. We would consider it comparable to ambient sounds in a library. It will not likely disturb people trying to work or study. (Virtually silent compared to ASICs, which sound like vacuum cleaners!)

Does the Rig Generate Heat?

A 1 GPU rig will not generate a lot of heat but a 10 GPU rig will provide enough heat to significantly warm up a small room. The thermal design power TDP rating is about 150 watts max per GPU. So the 10 GPU version, tuned to use 90 watts per GPU, would be comparable to a 750 to 1000 watt space heater. (On the extreme side, my 100 GPU small mining farm design can heat 1500 to 2000 square foot house in Michigan winter, and requires ventilation in the summer.)

What Kind of Electrical Do I Need?

The power supplies we use are automatic sensing and automatic switching, so they can accept 110v or 240v. Standard 110v residential wiring using 10 or 15 amp breakers will work fine. Best to dedicate one 15 amp circuit.

You will need to dedicate two 110v residential circuits to the rig, or one 240v (Suggest NEMA L6-30R if you will install)

What Do Most People Start Out With?

Many of our customers start with 8-10 GPU rigs, it is not too big to start but you can always start with fewer GPUs and expand later. The frames we use can support up to 13 GPUs on each frame.

What is the Electric Cost?

At $0.12 per kWh, 2000 +/- watts x 24 hours per day is 48 kWh per day, or about $5.76 per day or about $172 in electric cost monthly.

How Much Space Do I Need?

Space needed is 36" x 18" x 18" per frame plus room for a monitor, keyboard and mouse.

Do I need Fast Internet?

Any reliable internet connection will work for mining, it does not need to be fast, but reliability will be important. Wireless is also possible but generally wired is better.

What is the Difference Between an ASIC Miner and a GPU Mining Rig?

ASIC miners, such as Antminers, are loud like a vacuum cleaner, hot, inflexible because they can only ever mine just one coin, and ASICs become obsolete, unprofitable and worth nothing within 12 to 18 months.

GPU mining by contrast is quiet, cool, flexible to mine many different coins and change any time you wish to whatever is profitable at the moment, and they run profitably for many years.   GPU mining rigs also hold their value very well because the components, especially the GPUs, are always in high demand in the secondary market.
